I start this tread from the information that Abhishek wrote to me:

Where is your cache written? its SQL lite file in root of public HTML

How often should it be regenerated? it regenerates when someone imports, or you click refresh cache, it may take a day to generate cache of 300k products, we will add couple of special threaded scripts for faster cache time. it also generate a particular row whenever you edit product from catalague and edit it.

If prices and stock availability change, does the cache need to be regenerated? if you update in bulk, then yes. if you update a single record, it goes and updates a single record.
